END OF CAMP FACTS AND INFO

Well the close of operations draws ever near; here are some fun facts for you:

820 working days were done by the Officers and Adults who supported the cadets.

9700 meals served up.

18120 miles driven in total.

4 lorries of stores assembled, delivered and unpacked, issued, cleaned and returned.

10 months of planning

Oh and 1 Padre.

Anyway, the coaches depart here at 9:00hrs Saturday. They will stop at services for a break. Now arrival times some coaches took9 hours some took 12 hours etc. So we have no idea of arrival times. It all depends on Saturday holiday traffic. You should remain available and contactable for your child to call you from 5:00PM.

Now the arrival home of your child, some of your kids will have come home from Camp before, you will know what to do, and of course, you will know your own child better than us. Nevertheless, here are the top tips.

Each Cadet will react different, do not expect any reaction and take what comes. For some cadets it will be emotional, it is a bit like climbing Everest and they have an emotional moment when the task is finally completed. Some will be bubbly and chatty. Whatever do not try to read anything in to how they are or change their mood, they will react how they feel best. They have also grown up a little, inside they feel they have accomplished something great and let’s face it quite challenging, some of them will decide the pickup is not the time to share their experiences. Do not try and drag it out of them. Make sure you have some food they like, they may not want to eat, but do not worry. They will want a bath and a sleep, probably a long sleep. Give them some space and time they been with people 24 hours a day and when they are ready they will tell you the stories and remember every good story has a bit added, so don’t worry there wasn’t a tornado, there was no attack by tanks and the Sgt major did not have two heads.
